It kinda dawned upon me this morning, the site kind of assumes you know how draw and such on Windows. How about some tutorials on drawing for beginners? I'd do it, but unfortunately I cant draw anything more advanced stick figures. Is there a member of this site who knows how to draw and is willing to share this knowledge?

You mean like basic shapes, filling them with color or patterns, the difference between each of the tools .....   maybe what all the filters do? That basic?

You're right, of course - most of the tutorials assume you've come from another program and already know the basics.....

One of the Gimp sites starts with drawing squares and circles and filling.....it's the gimp Manual.
http://docs.gimp.org/en/index.html

Then,  in Inkscape..... there's a Basic Tutorial.
http://www.inkscape.org/doc/basic/tutorial-basic.html

actually, there is a big list of tutorials on their website - in many languages.
http://www.inkscape.org/doc/index.php?lang=en               that's where I found the Basic tutorial........

Can that get anyone started?   Don't feel bad, conholster.....stick figures are about my limit too!!!!!

The best advice my high school art teacher ever gave, "Draw what you see."  Very good advice when working from still life's and reference images.  Unfortunately I've never been able to translate freehand drawing through a mouse.  It can be done, but it is so much easier with a tablet.

There really are tons or tutorials out there.  And I have everyone in my Bookmarks.  Tongue

But I am always looking for a tutorial that just tells you when, where and how to do something. The why and what will come later.  There is usually too much information given and I never get to making anything, because I am trying to remember what ctrl/alt/shift+backspace means.  Sad

I want the directions (put your pointer on the _ _ _ .  ) Next etc. etc.  Then after I do it a bunch of times, I begin to see...aha..that's what that key does.

But that is a lot of work for the tutor.
