I have always been fascinated by the mandalas....Not so much their spiritual meaning part....but with the beautiful designs and colors.  I once watched a video of a sand mandala being made.  Just beautiful....not only the color and design...but the movements of the artists.  Then after all their work....they messed it all up.  Cry
I found some patterns. (I guess the 'true' artist would make up her own   Grin  )  But this was hard enough.  They didn't come out like anything I started.  I must have changed the colors numerous times....and each time it just got uglier.  Tongue  But I think I may do some more.  I just don't have good color sense. The first and last were done in Inkscape and the other in gimp.

Thanks.  I like the colors of the Gimp one best.  But as for 'making' I think more ...umph went into the one with Inkscape.  I like twisting and turning those gradients. Grin Grin  Plus there are some nice effects too.  I like the 3D it can give.

The making of the things were completely different in each program.  I had never done much selecting in Gimp and did learn a little more about doing that.  In Inkscape I could take the 'thing' apart using paths and remove borders.  Each was just fun do do.  While I tried to get good colors, I found I was more interested in the doing part instead of color.

Here is one I just did in Gimp.   http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/4634/mandala3.png

I don't know how you did these images and wouldn't know how to even start, but they are very cool looking.
