Hello,
This is Piki, the Ark Linux webmaster. I'd like to ask you guys to see if you can come up with any artwork for our site, mainly our Drupal 6.x based main site (http://www.arklinux.org/) using the Acquia Marina theme and our wiki (http://wiki.arklinux.org/) based on MediaWiki using the default Vector theme. We also have a forum (http://forum.arklinux.org) using SMF 2 RC3 and the Calmcea theme, where we replaced the default header logo with our own. Our main goal, though, are redesigning the Wiki and main Drupal site.

What we're after is a water-based theme (not Noah and the Ark type thing, just water-based) that shows that we're for Linux and Computer newbies as well as Linux veterans. What we can do (if the guy who takes up this project wants) is create a poll here and/or on the Ark forum to vote on to vote on what to use to create our theme.

If you guys can respond to my call to arms, I'd very much appreciate it as renovating and spicing up our site since our server got cracked into has been a really big chore. Our server hasn't been cracked in awhile, and we're running inside a secured virtual machine that makes weekly backups of our site, so I'm confident that we'll be safe for some time. Also, if you'd like to be mentioned as the maker of the theme and/or images, we will give you a big thank you wherever you want us to put it.

  Hey Piki

That was fast. Wink  Now I've got to check out Drupal 6x and see what it takes to add artwork.  Always learning. Grin

Do we need to incorporate this image?  Or is there some flexibility as in staying with the idea of this image but allowing for some abstraction of it?

  Did I ask that right?

That's our Logo, and it does need to appear visibly somewhere on the site. I guess I should have mentioned that before.

May I make a suggestion? Use Zen or Fusion as a base theme for drupal, then create a sub-theme with your designs. That way, it'll make lives easier, and also keep Drupal up to date.

(Hint: Many popular sites use Drupal, such as the GRAMMYs site and WhiteHouse.gov. The drupal home page features many of these. You can read their testimonials to see what they did!)

(Also: Zen is a great base theme. Cheesy I've never had luck with it, though. I can only do simple css.)

Well, if someone can make a good theme based off of Zen or Fusion, I'd be willing to upload it to the arklinux.org site as the default theme  Wink

Piki, just remember that you need to have Zen and/or Fusion installed on the site first before the theme will work.

One of my question was going to be, 'what does ArkLinux represent'? It seems you answered my question on another post. So it's Noah's Ark, right?

Scratch that, I just reread your first post.
