Hey Piki,

Give it some time. Hopefully we can get something Ark will like. I have one element of an image in mind that may be useful but not enough hours in the day, sorry, been very busy.

As far as MySQL, HTML and such, I won't be of any help.

Cheers ~ Ed

Of course I don't expect it to be instantaneous Wink I just get nervous when I don't see any activity for awhile Roll Eyes

We're actually using PHP, not HTML (though I do suppose it is possible to use HTML in PHP), but at any rate, I'm sure we can figure it out.

Same here. I work with the Gimp and that's it.
I would love to be able to do other things but I just don't have the knowledge base.

We have copied the files for our site, the only problem is copying the MySQL tables as we only have one database provided to us by our web host (it is OSUOSL, which stands for Oregon State University Open Source Lab; being that they are nice enough to host our site for free, even after several crackings from a year ago (one of which shut down a bunch of other sites they were hosting), we'd rather not press our luck asking for another database).

Hang in here Piki. I've been dealing with a spam problem and life always gets in the way. Hope to have something for you maybe soon, maybe not too soon, but there is something in the works when I get more time, sorry for the delay as I know you are anxious ...  Grin

Our head developer, bero, has not contacted us in a few weeks despite frequent emails from our other users. In addition, with us needing to release soon, one would think that each development ISO would squash more bugs than it introduced, but the exact opposite has been happening. And so, as I posted in the Announcements on the Ark Linux Forum, I will no longer consider myself an Ark Linux member (though I will stick around in case bero gets his act together). I still would like to see how the site turns out, so if you guys decide to continue with the Ark website project, hopefully jo-fluff will be around, or you guys can talk to BorgQueen on our IRC channel.

That's an odd turn of events. Just in time to try and contribute. Hope things turn out for them as a one man operation is hard to do.

A one man job is difficult, but to completely ignore your loyal subjects to the point where they just plain give up hope and leave is, in my opinion, so wrong on so many levels, especially when they are trying to offer their skills to help you out.

Just an update. The database is now copied which merely leaves the configuration of the site copies to use the appropriate entries in the database. Smiley

The arklinux.org server is currently down and the two subdomains (wiki and forum) are on the same server as the main site. No response from the browser, no ssh access, and no ping requests coming back. I have emailed bero (who is our only OSUOSL contact), but being that he has been completely non-responsive, I don't see him as getting to it any time soon. Until the site comes back up, we will not be able to provide you guys with our theme files (unless you want to download them directly from SMF, Drupal, and MediaWiki from which we downloaded them) or provide you guys with a place to upload and test the new themes. Sorry if this hinders you guys trying to design the graphics, but hopefully bero will come back soon. In the mean time, our IRC channel still exists (#arklinux on irc.freenode.net), and as a last contribution to Ark Linux, I have set up a mailing list (http://groups.google.com/group/arklinux-support). Once the server comes back online, jo-fluff should be able to configure the site copies to use the database copies and provide you guys with a place to test the themes.

The site is back. We just need to reconfigure the site copies.
