Is it just my computer, or is the "Show unread posts since last visit." broken? It always says there are no unread messages, even though "Show new replies to your posts." shows messages. I'm using the Leviathan theme, so is it possibly the theme?

Also, how can I get one of the other colors, besides brown, in Leviathan?

It might be a flaw with the theme (I'll have to look into this)
To change colors... look to the very top right of the page and you will see a small toolbar with 3 different colors, and "reset", etc. This is where you can change the size of the text, the colors, and the layout width.

And, just so everyone knows... I know there is still some things to be worked on here, but I have just been rather busy lately and will be getting more time to do some work round here soon Wink

Thanks! Now I have a new problem... I changed the layout width and it keeps changing to the most narrow of them with every page change. Oh well. I switched back to default...

That's not happening to me. Everything is very stable with the Leviathan theme. I did notice the problem with unread posts but that was happening with the default theme too.

Ruel, maybe clear your cookies for linuxgraphicsusers and try again with the leviathan theme already set.

I should probably mention I use Konqueror for my browser so maybe that might have something to do with not having problems, I don't know.

I'm using the default theme and if I click on "unread post" I see them but, leaving some unread and then coming back to them later results in the "no unread topics" message. I think this is the same thing ruel is talking about or is there a feature I don't have set right?

I am trying to replicate this issue but have not been able to yet... we'll keep working on it.
The most experienced person here for this type of bug squishing would be Digitante so, I will ask him the best way to approach it Wink

Does anyone else have a problem with...

Show unread posts since last visit.

... at the top of LGU? It never works for me.

I was on the leviathan theme but I'm back on the default theme and even scrolling down the page to topics that are unread, according to the different color icon in the far left column, and clicking on the colored icon, no unread  topic show.

I always get the message, in both instances:

Code:
No unread topics found since your last visit. Click here to try all unread topics.

and when I click there, on click here, unread topics do show. I hate all the extra clicking.

I thought that possibly the new version might straighten this problem out but no dice. Sure would like to use this feature.

Cheers

We'll do our best to look into this Jaws.. I am actually having the same problem with another forum I frequent but have already found I think the problem to be related to the theme they are using. When I reverted back to the smf default theme, the issue went away.

Although.. you are stating it has not gone away here with a similar solution. But, mind you... if no new posts have been made since the last time you checked, even posts that were new but you had not read will not appear as new.
I hate extra clicking too, cuz I'm one lazy s.o.b. Cheesy I also have quite few forums to look through a few times each day related to projects I am involved with.

I think our best bet at locating and squishing such bugs as this.. is our good friend Digitante, as he is the only one of us who has a brain when it comes to that sort of sssshhhhh-tuff Cheesy
So, we will need to wait until he can swing in and give us some words of wisdom on where to begin. I can also research the issue at the smf forums as they are always pretty quick with an answer & a solutions  Cool

We will also need to check/test each theme because.. if a them has a flaw/bug... I'd rather get rid of it so others don't fall victim and inform the creator of each theme know of the issues and let them fix it if they choose to.

I was actually kinda hoping Dad's Princess would design our very own lovely theme for us... but I'm sure she is quite busy, especially now with school. Smiley

Also, just to touch on this matter, to everyone... I know I have not been visible round here much but am very busy with both real-life matters and projects at the moment... but I promise to have that changing very shortly. While I check in on things a few times each day... I don't always have time to post.
And I want to thank all of you... members & staff alike for doing so well at keeping things going here... Wink

I've been noticing the same kind of thing.

Browsing around after clicking on "Show unread posts since last visit" showing no results, I've found over and over again that there are all kinds of threads with the handy little "NEW" thingy next to them.  And they're new to me.

Odd . . .

Has this just been happening since the upgrade?

This has been happening with the previous version too.

You know what else doesn't seem to work right is the 'Mark All Messages As Read'.

I get the message...

Code:
Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.

... but if I refresh the page, it will then work.

Cheers

This is tough because, I just did a "read all unread posts since last visit" and it worked just fine for me under the default smf theme?
It could be, maybe I need to refresh the options per theme down the line, not sure yet. I have a post into smf support to try to figure this out.

Sometimes, 3rd party themes can also have flaws in the script which can cause such malfunctions too... or a theme which is not compatible with the version of the software... so I need to go through all the themes as soon as I have some time.

I apologize for any inconveniences created by any of this and I will do my best to rectify the issue a.s.a.p. Smiley

Unread posts definitely don't work with the leviathan theme. When I changed back to the default theme yesterday night they didn't work but today they are working. It's got to be with the non-default themes which kind of makes using them useless.
