This is a review of the Vantec NexStar TX, an external hard drive enclosure. It accepts 2.5" SATA hard drives (laptop sized hard drives) and was at a ridiculously cheap price of $6.99 w/ free shipping when I bought it from, where else, NewEgg.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817392032

Currently at $7.99, the price is still right, in my opinion.

Pros:

- sturdy construction
- lightweight
- inexpensive
- great value

Cons:

- none

This product is perfect for on-the-go users. If you're geeky enough, you can easily slip this in your shirt pocket for the day. The, less than checkbook sized as seen in the photo below, aluminum and plastic enclosure is certainly lightweight enough. The lightly padded, included, leatherette sleeve adds value along with softening the sharp corners. Also included is a USB Y-cable and a self adhesive plastic sheet to cover the electronic of the HDD.

Unlike some of the reviewers on NewEgg, I had no problem with either the itty-bitty-teenie-weenie screws (comes with its own screwdriver) or the size issue of the HDD flopping around inside the case. It fit my original Lenovo HDD perfectly.

Final thoughts:

Best $7.00 I spent on computer parts since... forever. Having hard drive sized GBs available instead of messing around with USB sticks is infinitely preferred. If you have a spare laptop HDD laying around after upgrading, get this product.
