Hi,

I would like to have some hints on how to start producing an image like the one attached.

I have started with Xara pro and can produce a ribbon like this but, the space for "images"
and the holes is something different.

Kind regards,
Jan

Hey Jan,

I was going to be a smart ass and say 'learn Blender' but thinking about it, I may not be that far off. Doing something in a 2D app is going to be a lot of tedious work, in my opinion, (that coming from an Inkscaper).

Heck, I'm not sure using Blender would be any easier. Maybe Freddy will give some insight on using Blender for such project.

"Yikes, a Windows app..."

Come on Jaws, Windows is not that evil. I bought Xara Pro after I used (and still use) Xara LX.

With the Xara Pro you can make some 3D quite easy, see the 10 minutes start.

Kind regards,

Not saying Windows is evil, bought a Windows 7 family 3 pack last year, mostly for the wife's work but we use it at home for specific things too. Too bad Xara doesn't see fit to release a Linux version which I believe would sell. Funny how Linux graphics apps put out Windows versions but the opposite is not true.

Anyway, looks like you got a good start with Xara Pro. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Have a look at this:

http://www.xara.com/eu/history/

Xara was released for Linux only a short time, it is a shame they did not
continue, but also the typical linux way about licenses gave trouble.
I did ask them once if they would make a linux version but they told they
would not, such a shame.

I plan to virtualise windows and have it in VM on Linux.

Kind regards,
Jan
