I just found this out on accident this morning, but Inkscape will let you pull down guides on 45 degree angles from either of the upper corners. Very handy...  Wink I'm learning new stuff all the time about this application...

Another new find! You can also double click on a guide and place it perfectly where you want it and at any angle you want. When you double click on a guide, you get this dialog box:

Hey, Ruel!

What version of Inkscape are you running?  I don't seem to be able to pull diagonal guides from the top corners as you described with the version I'm running (Inkscape 0.4.4.1).   Huh

TIA!   Grin

I'm using 0.46, which is actually buggy. I'm debating on reinstalling .45 because of better rendering.

Can you have both versions installed or does that create a problem?

I think that is determined by the packager. Some distros allow having KDE 3.5.9 and KDE 4.1 installed at the same time, for instance. Other packages are either upgraded or not.

Here's something interesting I found.  Looks like it would work around any issues of two versions of the same program causing conflicts.  Haven't messed with it yet though.   Undecided

Just make a suggestion... for anyone interested in the zero-install project, please be sure to check with the admins and or devs for your distribution first before just installing any software like this... give them the link, let them check it all out, and wait on their word to let you know if they feel it is safe or not... It's just a precaution and good practice.
I am very interested in this project myself, so I have sent the link to my friends in the GRANULAR project... and I will wait on their recommendations before proceeding any further.
ZeroInstall looks to be a great project, but remember, it is still under development and pay heed to any cautionary statements they make on their site, if any Wink
