I'm doing some icons for a distro theme for Cairo Dock. The person packaging it wanted SVG files for icons so that the zoom would be smoother. However, I'm losing all alpha when KDE 3.5.9 renders it and sometimes the colors are just way off. What am I doing wrong? Is this just a problem with KDE 3.5.x and SVG rendering or is there something I must do to get it right?

What it should look like:

Does anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong or what I need to do to get them to render correctly? I'd love to get this sorted out and get this package out to the repos... Thanks in advance!

I remember running itno this once but I can't remember off hand what I had to do... I will look back for the info but read this in the meantime
There are posts which explain other steps needed to accomplish what you are doing

All the googling I've done suggests the it's been a 'problem' for many years. I get the same results as you when trying to render through Konky, but not KSVG.

I'd guess it's that KSVG is a plugin instead of being incorporated into Konqueror. Perhaps when version 4 hits the mainstream it will work.

I also wondered why all the SVG icons that come with a distro are duplicated with .png files in all the different sizes. Now I know why.

Cheers
