Hi Jason

Your Trudy drawing is awesome and for someone just starting out I can tell that you have a good deal of talent. I love that you don't follow the crowd and do shiny buttons and banners as is so often the case with vector drawings. I feel that vector apps are just as much of a artistic tool as any paint program and I'm happy to see folks differentiate themselves by stretching their ideas in this way.

Your colors and composition are impeccable. You did a marvelous job on the hair and facial features. The proportions are dead on. Two thumbs way up!

I do feel the center shadow on the face is too sharp and a softening would be appropriate. The chin line could extend to the right side and give a more natural look. The eyes are lacking the pupils and a little more white reflection highlight would really set them off.

I hope you honor us with more contributions as it's fun to see an artist express themselves with clever, imaginative ideas and watch their growth.

It's hard working off a bitmap but I included a SVG mod of the changes I described so you can see the effects I'm talking about. They are simple pen tool paths and I tried to match the colors. Just lasso around the whole drawing with the selector tool to see the added elements.

If you use a lot of blur, don't forget to use layers. Speeds up Inkscape a lot if you toggle those layers visibility off when working on other parts of your drawing.

Cheers
