With the new set up, of using WordPress as our communities CMS/Blog, we are going to be trying out various items to increase the overall usefulness and eye-candy, etc. If, at any time, one of you experiences any problems or bugs... or if you have an idea, please post here so we can look into the subject.
Thank you

Personally I think the colours of the new wordpress installation should be used on the forum as well. 1 - Darker colours show off art better than light colours do, especially digital mediums. 2 - It helps tie the branding together when bouncing from the wordpress site to the forum site. 3 - The greys and blues on the wordpress site look more modern. These are just my opinions and thoughts of course.

One thing that I spotted almost immediately, while checking out the new web site is that Linux Graphics Users does not have its own favicon! What, no favicon? and a graphics group? I wouldn't have known anything about this at all had it not been that Linux Internationals forum has just implemented its own favicon, which was assisted by some folks here, by the way, so it should be a piece of cake to make up a favicon, load it onto the site [don't know how that is done] and then the linkage between the two parts of the site should be more obvious. Now I will give a bit of advice : either letters or a symbol can work well, but they don't seem to combine too well together. The 16 x 16 pixels format is very restrictive. Here's a link to the thread on the other forum, http://linuxinternationals.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1629&start=0and here's another link to my Picasa Web site with some ideas we had. http://picasaweb.google.com/paulgtaylor91/LinuxInternationalsFavicons# [Best seen in 'slide-show' mode as otherwise they are blown up in size. You can see here how the 16 x 16 pixel size makes a lot of difference. Paul Paul

@ kolorguild, yes... I would love to have the forum match up with the front page. I imagine I can try to look into it, and if need be... find someone who could create a nice custom css to do so. Or maybe the css for the WP theme can be hacked to be used on smf? Two other options, I do not know if a bridge for smf exists, but... WordPress has an integrated forum (which would make it appear the same as the front page) but, I am not sure if all the content here could be transfered to it, and we would rather not lose what we have here. But, I will look onto these things @Paul, we do have a favicon (within the forum section) I just have to add it to the WP frontpage

Just so everyone knows too... you will have to register with the WP to be a subscriber. There is no bridge used to integrate the two. There was once a supported WP & SMF bridge but it is no longer supported.

@Paul, we do have a favicon (within the forum section) I just have to add it to the WP frontpage I can't see it. Both forums and Wordpress have the same symbol in my browser. Paul PS Am having difficulty displaying from my Picasa Web account. Any way of uploading files to display?

How to say this without getting hate mail... I think the ".com" in the banner looks a little out-of-place. Dont get me wrong the the banner is awsome. (we want sources! ) Sincerly, conholster

Well over on Linux Internationals I can upload a graphics file as an attachment, which can then be displayed in-line. Gets around the problem of hosting it elsewhere then having to link to in a posting, especially for small items. I have just used this here, by way of example. The uploaded photo is found at : -- http://linuxinternationals.org/phpBB3/download/file.php?id=390 and displays, in-line as : -- Only certain specified file formats are permitted and the size is restricted too. The forum there is 'Powered by phpBB' which is different to the system used here, but I was just wondering if such a facility exists here. Paul

Although your question is not so much related to any WP items, I know that Ruel has mentioned the inline attachments subject before as well. I still need to look into this, and will try to get to it by next week, along with some other things I need to do here
