No, it isn't dumb and boring.  I think it showed the steps nicely. Sometimes a tutorial can be so complicated and one misses out.  Yours gives the basics clearly.

I finally got the Bezier Envelope installed and have been playing with that, the Bezier Deformation and the Bend option. They are all fun.

A tutorial I was interested in was putting text on a globe.  Lots and lots of steps. It used the Bezier Envelope but I ended up doing it with the Deformation.  I gave up doing it like the tut, but still came up with something. 
There don't seem to be many tuts on this. I googled and found your post.. Grin  and also found my inquiry on another forum.  Cheesy Grin
